Hi again. It’s me. I know I’ve been MIA for a while, but I’m resolved to get back to the blog. I needed to take a break while I adjusted to my new job (same company, new role, LOTS of travel—and loving it so far), but there’s lots to say about where I’ve been, what I’ve eaten/done/seen, and where I’m going.

My life for the past few weeks had admittedly been a blur of airport salads, crumpled boarding passes lining the bottom of my bag, and plastic hotel key cards. I’m sort of living out “Up In the Air”…minus the whole George Clooney part. Unfortunately.

I’m still going to be doing the DC-based blog thing, but #LauraLikesThis is going to expand a bit and become a catch-all for my dispatches and musings from the road.

So get your frequent flyer number ready and please put all tray tops and seat backs in the upright position. It’s good to have you along for the ride, and I’m looking forward to the trip.

Gandhi World Record of the Day: 485 kids from Kolkata marked the 64th anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi’s passing by setting a new Guinness World Record last week for most children dressed as the late leader.

The previous record was set in 2010 by 255 students from the south Indian city of Coimbatore.

In addition to setting the record, the underprivileged boys, aged 10 to 16, took part in a half-kilometer trek through Kolkata meant to symbolize the revolutionary Dandi Salt March of 1930.
